About Ms. Fitzgerald
Welcome to 2F! This is my 14th year teaching in Westwood. I taught at the integrated preschool for five years working with 3, 4, and 5 year old neurotypical and neurodivergent students. I made a shift to work with elementary aged neurodivergent students at Hanlon (now Pine Hill School) working primarily with grades K-2 for five years. This is my fourth year at Downey. I'm grateful to take all of my past experiences, and pour it into my second grade classroom at Downey!

I completed my undergraduate degree at Endicott College studying Early Childhood Education. For my master's degree, I attended Lesley University studying Moderate Disabilities. Coming from a family where my mother was an elementary educator, I have always had a passion for teaching. Watching students question, reflect, persevere, and grow is incredibly rewarding and exciting. Teaching second grade brings me so much joy! It's a big year of growth, both academically and emotionally. Second grade is the year your child will begin to develop an understanding of ones self.
When I'm not teaching I enjoy time with my family and friends. I'm originally from upstate NY. I enjoy spending time there when I can. I love to be at our family's lake house in Lake George, NY. I really enjoy being outdoors, and traveling whenever I can! In the summer, I'm swimming and boating, and in the winter, I'm out on the slopes skiing.
