About Ms. Fitzgerald
Welcome! This is my 13th year teaching in Westwood. I taught at the integrated preschool for 5 years working with 3, 4, and 5 year old students. I decided to make a shift and work with elementary aged students with special needs at Hanlon (now Pine Hill School). I worked with grades K-2 primarily for 5 years. This is my third year at Downey. I'm grateful to take all of my past experiences, and pour it into my second grade classroom at Downey!

I completed my undergraduate degree at Endicott College studying Early Childhood Education. For my master's degree, I attended Lesley University studying Moderate Disabilities. Coming from a family where my mother was an elementary educator, I have always had a passion for teaching. Watching students reflect, question, progress, and grow is incredibly rewarding and exciting. I truly enjoy teaching 2nd grade! It's a big year of growth both academically and emotionally. Second grade is the year your child will begin to develop an understanding of ones self.

When I'm not teaching I enjoy time with my family and friends. I'm originally from upstate NY. I enjoy spending time there when I can. I love to be at our family's lake house in Lake George, NY. I really enjoy being outdoors! In the summer, I'm swimming and boating, and in the winter, I'm out on the slopes skiing. Traveling is a joy as well!
